Instagram image sizes — FAQ
What is the best Instagram post size in 2026?
Square posts are 1080×1080 px, portrait posts 1080×1350 (4:5), and landscape 1080×566. Stories and Reels are 1080×1920 (9:16). Exporting at 1080 on the long edge keeps files sharp on all devices without exceeding Instagram's 20 MB limit.
How do I resize an image for Instagram without losing quality?
Resize to the exact spec — 1080×1080, 1080×1350 or 1080×1920 — and export PNG or JPG. The imgsize.cc workbench does this in-browser with no upload: pick the Instagram preset, drop your photo, download the exact-size file. No compression by Instagram's upscaling because you match its native resolution.
What is the Instagram profile picture size?
Instagram displays profile pictures at 320×320 pixels on most devices. Uploading a 320×320 (or larger, e.g. 1080×1080) square image avoids cropping surprises — the platform always shows a circle crop, so keep important content inside the center.
